IRIS 2.1
This advanced software package for integrated retrieval of Micro CDS/ISIS databases offers the following advantages:
user friendly interface allowing to any
unexperienced individual to make queries in integrated
database (without help of librarian or konwledge of Micro
CDS/ISIS);
multilevel
searching of inverted file according to:
1. basic dictionary (full inverted file), authors,
descriptors in English, descriptors in Slovak, UDC, year
of publication, country, language, type of document;
2. alphabetical title listing of all types of documents
(books, proceedings, periodicals, articles, research
tasks, mission reports, standarts, audiovisual documents,
cartographical documents, studies, translations, print
off documents;
3. document number of standard and book mark;
menu driven
browsing of inverted file by using up and down arrows, or
jumping to the required part of inverted file by typing
first characters of search term;
implementation of logic operators: (* for AND, + for OR,
^ for AND NOT, $ for right hand truncation, DEL for
cancelling of query, CTRL-ENTER for standard search
formulation (identical with option S from search menu in
standard Micro CDS/ISIS), ENTER for confirmation of
selection);
menu driven
operation allowing to present search results and to adopt
search result by using extension or limiting functions
(representing logic operators OR or AND), to start new
search or exit from search menu;
direct
access to database structure (structure of various
databases integrated into one database) by entering type
of document option;
two level
display of search result presentation (browsing within
short display format or entering ful display format for
each record)
possibility
to adopt search result for printing (by marking relevant
records for printing);
possibility
to print search result (all records by using function key
ALT-S, or to print only marked records according to
choice by using function key INS)
possibility
to print earch result by using function key ALT-P either
directly to printer by using function key ENTER or to
copy search result into file;
using
function key F5 to switch to other database such as
vocabulary, thesaurus, library loan systems etc.
